CO / CO2 Monitoring

Carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) arise through combustion processes. Carbon monoxide is usually a product of incomplete combustion, and reduction of this gas species can result in improved combustion efficiencies. In the worst cases of CO production, where it reaches percent levels, proper monitoring of this gas is necessary to prevent explosions and fires. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are both emitted in fires, and the measurement of these gases results in improved fire detection reliability and fewer false alarms.

Emissions produced in the smelting process can give rise to dangerous levels of CO, making accurate measurement and continuous monitoring of this gas necessary in this industry. Monitoring of both CO and CO2 is also important for furnace and boiler control strategies.

Our TDLAS technology ensures accurate and rapid response to CO and CO2 levels in a variety of environments. The Unisearch LasIR provides:

  • Reliable, accurate data
  • Rapid response – within seconds if desired
  • Multiple location monitoring for both fire detection and combustion optimization
  • Continuous emissions monitoring
  • Freedom from interference from other gases which could result in erroneous data
  • Easy maintenance and improved process control
  • High sensitivity (1-2 ppmv-m) for CO-only applications
